sad I’m confused

Assign To not correctly setted

On the Taskboard, when I drag a Task from Closed to In Progress, the "Assigned To" field of the WI is set to the user connected to Urban Turtle rather than the one selected in the "Assign Task To" dropdown list of Urban Turtle.

  • Just to make sure, is the work item already assigned to someone? When a work item is already assigned, it will not be assigned to someone else when moved to the In Progress column.

I have just verified the functionality and if the work item is in the Done column and it is not assigned to someone, moving it to the In Progress column does assign it to the person selected in the "Assigned tasks to" list.

The exact case is this one :
    - A Task is in the Done column and is assign to a user called "Mu Xie".
    - The "Assign Task To" field is set on "Mu Xie"

If I drag the Task a first time in the In Progress Column the field was not overwritten.

Then I dragged it back to the Done column and retried. This is where the Bug happened. The Assigned To field as changed.

The changelog of the Work Item is attached.

Then I did another test. I dragged a Task that hasn't yet been moved back to "In Progress". The behavior you described did not happen as the "Assigned To" field was set to the content of the dropdown list.

The changelog of the Work Item is attached.

Then again, dragged the last one back in Done and then again in "In Progress" and the same behavior as the first described here happened.

The changelog of the same Work Item a little while later.

During the entire test, the "Assign Task To" DDL had the user "Mu Xie" selected.

  • This is most likely due to actions defined for the Closed to Active transition in the MSF Agile 5.0 process template. It sets the Assigned To to the user who has closed the work item. This obviously conflicts with how Urban Turtle handles this transition. I would recommend editing your project to remove this action for this transition.

    happy I’m thankful
You were right. Deleting this action resolved the issue.
What was disturbing was that the copy was not displayed in the modified fields on the changelog of the WI.

    Thank you
