Can I show bugs for a User Story in the task board under the Story (and not a the bottom) even if the bug is attached to a test case that is attached to the story and not directly to the user story?
We create Test Cases with MS Test Manager for (almost) all User Stories. The stories are then tested and bugs are created with Test Manager. Test Manager links the bugs to the Test Cases and not the Stories so the bugs show in the task board at the bottom since they have no visible parent in the task board because test cases are not shown.
To make matters more complicated Test Cases are not linked with Child-links but with "Tested By"-links and bugs are linked to test cases with a "Tests"-link.
Can I with UT 3.12 with the "Direct Links mode now accepts children of children"-feature show bugs under user stories?

Can I show bugs under a User Story in the task board even if the bug is attached to a test case that is attached to the story and not directly to the user story?

This can be achieved through the configuration file by changing to the Direct Links mode and configuring the links between the different work item types. You can look at the Scrum for Team System v3 configuration file for inspiration.
Here's a short blog post about the configuration mapping files to get you started. -

just making sure, if we do put a bug under a user story under this configuration, can we still transfer that bug to the next sprint (in case we can't fix it in the current sprint) without any issues in Urban Turtle?

Personally, if a test case for a user story fails because of a bug, then I would consider this story as being incomplete and move the story to the next sprint to be completed. But if you only want to move the bug, I don't see any technical problem with that. When the next sprint is selected, the bug will appear in Urban Turtle as having no relationship with any other work items (it will appear as a root item). The links will still be there in TFS, but they won't be visible in Urban Turtle because the linked items will not be visible as they'll stay behind, in the previous iteration.
Not sure if this is clear enough? -

Ronald,
I never got around to making the changes to the config file to get bugs displayed under the Story so if you manage to make the necessary config changes I hope you could post them here for reference.

Louis, yes that was clear. Thanks!
Mathias, I don't exactly have rights on our setup so I'll be working with our admin on this. I'll let you know what we come up with. -
