When moving a task to the "In Progress" column, instead of the system defaulting the assignment to the user logged in, it would be useful to be able to select the user assignment. This would make the stand up meeting more efficient.

Thanks for the suggestion. It will be added to the backlog so that it gets reviewed by the team.

Just to add further information here, the current functionality of defaulting to the current user is fine, but the ability to change the user from the task board instead of having to open then task would make it a lot more effective.
Thanks,

I see that this feature is now in 3.7, but is difficult to use. All users are listed in the drop down. I would have expected just those that are contributors to the project would be in the list. For our company there are hundreds of users. With the list showing all of them it is hard to find users.

Thanks for your feedback. Only individual users listed in TFS group membership for your project should be listed. Following our email discussion, it appears there is an issue with domain groups. We'll try to resolve this as soon as possible.

I use "TFS Foundation Server Group" to manage my users. However, I found them are not listed under that "Assign Task To" pull down menu. Only those users added individually will show up. Is this design intent or is there a place I need to config to make Urban recognize those users?
Thanks.

This was done by design as a way to provide granular control over which users appear in the drop-down.

I've installed 3.8 and there seems to be a problem with the user assignment field. When I select a specific user (which happens to be me), and drag a task from the "To Do" column to the "In Progress" column, it assigns the task to the last user that was in the assignment field. This seems to only happen with my account, all other users listed, the assignement works fine for.

Great news Anthony! We actually reproduced this issue with names containing quotes.

Louis, we have spoken about this before, and after playing with 3.8 a bit and talking to others in my group, I think that the TFS groups that are used to populate the assignment drop down need to be something that users (admins) can configure.
We sometimes create active directory groups for teams if they are large enough. This just makes it easier to give the entire team access to things. It would be nice to be able to do the same in Urban Turtle.
If in the configuration we could specify the TFS groups to use, this would allow the tool to use network groups, and still allows for the assignment field to only contain users that should be assigned work. -

Thanks again for the feedback. I've added your suggestion to our backlog.

Here's my experience when I've played with this feature:
1) There are too many users in my project and the assign to drop down cannot display them all.
2) when I select a different name and drag a task it still will not assign the task to them, but still puts my name on it (the current user).
3) In one case, my name was displayed in the "Assign To" box, but when dragging the task, but assigned the last person in the list to the item.
Here are a couple of suggestions for potential improvement as I think the feature is a wonderful idea and would be very useful (if I could use it).
1) be able to configure a TFS sub-team or define a list of team members that is tied to the area (I've already suggested this elsewhere).
2) Another possibility would be to just scan the "Assigned To" field on "In Progress" work items and build the list on the fly when retrieving them for display. This may be the easiest solution of all and the most flexible and usable and if a team member's name isn't in the drop it means they don't have something they're working on! -

Thanks for the suggestions. We're actively discussing ways to configure teams in Urban Turtle but we haven't settled on a solution right now.
As for point number two, that would only work when using the feature to highlight user tasks, not to assign them new tasks.
However, I am a bit curious. How many users are listed in the assignment drop down, in the work item editor?-
I think it displayed 75. Yes, you are correct about only highlighting, not assignment.
