In our team we assign a task/user story to "Ready for test" between "In progress" and "Done".
What is the possible solutions in your product?

Urban Turtle 3.8 has much improved support for multiple states in each of the columns. You can now effectively map both In Progress and Ready To Test to the In Progress column and easily transition between the states. Check it out!

1Urban Turtle's task board is limited to a three-column layout. You can however map multiple states to each of the columns by editing a configuration file. -
-
I thought there is a plan to increase the number of columns and have them configurable?
-
-
That would also be an item on our wishlist. We have add an extra state for the task work item: "Ready for test" , would be nice if the was an extra column for that

I'm deciding whether to make the jump from Conchango's Scrum for Team System over to MSF5, and I have to say that UrbanTurtle is almost perfect for my team's needs.
There is just one small issue - is it possible to have more than three columns on the task board, and if so, how to I update the xml mapping file to accommodate this?

We want this too!!, So we are able to make "ready for test", "Released to QA".
-
-
Would it be possible to reconfigure Done to "Ready For Test" and not show tasks that are done?
-
You're creating a Testing silo. Your *team* is not done with the PBI until it's tested. Map Ready for Test into the In Progress column.

Yes, of course, this can be achieved by creating your own mapping file for your process template. Urban Turtle uses these files to support multiple templates. It ships with files for MSF Agile, VS Scrum 1.0 and Scrum for Team System v3 (our mapping file is still in beta, send us feedback!).
By default, the files are located under 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft Team Foundation Server 2010\Application Tier\Web Access\Web\UrbanTurtle\configuration\project'. I recommend that you start from an existing file, copy it, change the name of the file (an attribute at the top of the document) and edit the states configured to appear in each of the columns. The files are xml-based and are fairly easy to edit. You'll then need to configure your project to use this new file. You can do so from the Configuration option under the Project menu in Urban Turtle. -

I posted an idea for this, "Multiple/custom columns on taskboard" (http://community.urbanturtle.com/urba...)
You can wote for it so it will be uppriotized. -

I am using the Agile template and I've added a Resolved state on my Task work item type. How do I take advantage of the new feature? When I drag an item on the task board I still only get Active and Closed states.
-
-
You must create a customized mapping file for your process template and map the Resolved state to the desired column.

Figured it out. I missed the update to the TaskBoard/ColumnStates section.
-
-
Can you also map another field to the in progress column?
-
-
Only states can be mapped to each of the task board columns. The state of the work item is what Urban Turtle uses to determine in which column it should be displayed, according to your configuration mapping file.

Hi Louis
It's not clear from this thread whether it is in fact possible to create a 'Ready for Test column". If it is possible would it be possible to get instructions on how to do this?
Also you mentioned a few months ago that in "Urban Turtle 3.8 has much improved support for multiple states in each of the columns". Are there any details on how this works?
Regards

It is not possible create a 'Ready for test' column.
What is possible however is mapping multiple states to each of the column. For instance, you could map In Progress and Ready for test to the In Progress column and easily transition between these states. Urban Turtle 3.8 introduced features to facilitate this scenario, where you can pick the state as you drop work items. Cards also display a colored dot to represent the state of the work item.
I invite you to read our blog post describing this release for more information. -

For the record, we're looking to implement this method to accommodate our addition of a "resolved" state for tasks that are 'ready to validate'. Ideally, this would add a new (4th) column between In Progress and Done, but we'll map it to one of those for the time being.
So, this is a request for a feature to add support for more column support. We currently use TFS and sticky note task boards, but with some teams being scattered geographically, we hope to deploy Urban Turtle to more teams. Our license supports 25 users, but we could expand that with a few new features. -
-
This is something that goes up in the backlog currently. I will add your vote for that feature.

Hi guys! Great product with one missing feature for me. I would like to add multiple columns to task board which reflect custom work item workflow. Is there any chance to release this soon?
Thanks! -
-
Not sure about soon, but it is high on the backlog and we'd really like to see this implemented in a future release. It's a major change request, so it needs to be planned carefully.

+1 on having the ability to have custom columns. This will be a huge plus to this otherwise brilliant product!

-
We're working on it. For real! Check this out!
