Is there a way to have an item not show in the backlog if it is assigned to an iteration?

It is possible to hide work items that are assigned to an iteration under the currently selected one. It is a filter available on the Card Filters menu named 'Hide work items from child iterations'.

If this filter is applied when you are on the root iteration, often used as the product backlog, then it will effectively hide all work items assigned to an iteration.
